X-Rays, CBCT Scans and 3D Imaging
Dental scans should be a part of your regular oral health routine.
It is recommended that you have a dental scan every two years. This is because even though dental scans are relatively low radiation, you still don’t want to have them too often if you can help it.
With a dental scan, our dentists can tell you whether you have tooth decay, cavities, broken teeth, and get a general picture of your oral health as it stands.
Dental scans are especially useful to dentists when assessing a new patient for the first time and finding problems with a patient before symptoms begin.
Dental CBCT Scans
CBCT stands for Cone Beam Computed Tomography.
Cone beam technology allows for the imaging of more than just bones and teeth as with a traditional X-ray.
With a dental CBCT scan we are able to image nerve pathways and soft tissues at the same time as bones and teeth in 3D. This gives us a much clearer image to work with when planning your treatments.
Treatments that benefit from dental CBCT scans include implants and orthodontic work, where knowing the precise location and angle of teeth is of the upmost importance.
